The Douay-Rheims translation of the Bible is the first ever complete Bible translation in English approved by the Catholic Church, made by Catholics, for the Catholic faithful to use. However, this
website is open to everybody as it is an accurate Bible translation. Contrary
to popular belief, the Catholic Church has translated Scripture to English and other vernacular languages before this. See the "About" section for more information. This is as
close as an English speaker can get to reading the Latin Vulgate without learning Latin.
This is the same Douay-Rheims version of the Bible that was published on 1582 for The New Testament and 1610
for The Old Testament. This is not the Bishop Challoner revision. Keep in mind the Douay-Rheims Bible
was published before the Clementine Vulgate and the Sixto Vulgate.
Please look for errors in my spelling, grammar, verses etc. by comparing with the original documents I have linked in the footer and contact me. I am sure I have made some errors in
typing this out & I would not want them to linger.
The original translators & writers of the Rheims's New Testament were lead by Dr. Gregory Martin, assisted by William Allen, Richard Bristow, Thomas Worthington, & William Reynolds.
The Old Testament translators & writers are seperated into two parts. The first section of the Douay Old Testament was lead by Laurence Kellam. The later section of the translation was lead by Dr. Worthington, the
superior of the seminary at the time.
You may contact me via Twitter or

If you want to volunteer to help with finishing some of the Old Testament, you can contact me on social media.
These are the ONLY official social media accounts. Others are NOT me.
Feel free to use the content I have presented here however as you like. Although, I would greatly
appreciate if you would in some manner share this website if you are going to use it (i.e. posting
a link to this website so as to show where you got it from).
Please share this around and copy & paste the text to your heart's content, it is all public domain. My goal for this website is to help people come to know about this fantastic Bible translation because, I
could not find it outside of archives where it is not reader-friendly, nor copy & paste-able.
